It's great we live in a country with freedom of religion. When I think of the sacrifices that our forefathers made so that we could have this freedom, I feel very blessed. We as church members have had a hard time since the church began even when Christ was on the earth He was ridiculed for what his purpose was but the saviour was forgiving and somethings hurt especially when there are misunderstandings. The Lord set up his church with apostles and prophets and eventually lost because of mens hearts failed. Why when the world is in darkness can the Lord not bring out of obscurity those precious things that are lost with whom he pleases this is his world we do not govern how he runs the church even there are those who asume tht role. In order to find what really is true is to do exactly what Joseph Smith did in 1820 read James chapter 1 verse 5. There are many ready to pull the church down because satan our common enemy is allowed to roam freely untill his time is up. I have been in the presence of prophets and apostles and i have felt there spirit warmly, I cannot deny what i know i cannot tell you what to believe, but i know God lives, Jesus is the christ, and He has restored the church through His prophets and leaders past and present. I have met Boyd K Packer and he is a true apostle because of my witness to the church because i took a leap of faith, not listening to words of degenerate opposition because that is what satan wants us to think and certainly swearing against an apostle makes no difference. my learned friends i feel as though you have a real problem with the church of jesus christ of latter day saints, why would that be? i feel as a wise man once wrote, where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge and where is the knowledge we have lost in information. it seems to me that not only you anti lds but also the members you have spoken to lack wisdom and knowledge, and only seem to be filled with part information. for now all i want to say is that the lord asked us through the prophet joseph smith not to drink tea coffee ,alcohol etc . and didn't give health reasons why we shouldn't,it was just about obedience. try reading abraham 3:25 in the pearl of great price. 2nd the word of wisdom was not command until later in the churchs history but was and is And always will be the order and will of god in the temporal salvation of his people. so wether or not bringham young joseph or any other saint in the early days drank alcohol tea or smoked swore or what ever. doesn't matter. Anybody can say bad things about the MOrmons. This is just a free comment you want to share? Yes of course? There are also mormons who are also goats on their own backyard just like any religions. The number one hypocrites are those that pretend to be Mormons but in real life cannot follow the standards of a real Mormon. But honestly? But these two young Americans of which many Americans used to mocked them as CULTS..,and POLYGAMIST..,(In real life there are many hypocrites in other religions who says they are monogamist. Many of them have live-in partners). I was impressed. They are true Americans.

I am sorry; I understand that we all have free agency. However, we as Mormons have a right to practice what we feel is the truth. We should also be able to do that with out things being made a public display of things we feel are very sacred. I am proud to be an American were we do have the freedom of speech and religion. i became a member of the church of jesus christ when my parents joined when i was about 10, i never really understood why they chose to join but felt i would follow. i loved young women and the church and it was a great inspiration to me. i was dating a young man in the church but the relationship wasn't to be and i ended up dating someone out of the church. at this stage of my life the church appeaered to go to the back of my mind and i started drinking, moved in with partner etc. but sopmething in the back of my mind new that the church was true and i missed it.so after 5 years of not attending i pluck up the courage to go again, and i feel that it was the best move i ever made. i married my partner who is not a member and have two beautiful children who i love with all my heart. i cant believe people have wrote and said they now have better friends and a better life. i have friends out of the church i go out clubbing most weekends and have fab nights, my friends except me for who i am and never judge me. my husband always says to me that he chose me because i was different to other women doesnt that say something, or just maybe life as a mormon in the uk is different to american. - 05/23/2008 - it changed my life

Some of this was pretty funny. Most of it was mildly amusing. A small portion actually crossed the line... I do find it interesting that certain groups are OK to pigeonhole into a collection of stereotypes and some aren't. I'm sure there are plenty of small-minded Mormons out there (just like there are plenty of small-minded folks of any group). Every experience in life is what you make of it. You haters hated BYU because you wanted to hate it. People looking for a good experience there will find it. I attended BYU from 1998-2002 and had a great experience. No one is perfect, the members of the church are not perfect and therefore the church isn't either. The gospel is true and perfect. As far as consequences for sexual misconduct before marriage- every bishop has inspiration and receives revelation for EACH case INDIVIDUALLY. There are guidelines about how a person should be counselled to repent, but each case is different. Wow this is all really sad. I have religion in my life (not going to say which one). I searched for many years. Basically, bought a book called "Religions In America" and went through the list giving all a try (why not!). Eventually, I found the right one for me. I am happy and spriitually fulfilled. I have to say though if you focus on the people in any religion you will be greatly disappointed. People are people, some good, some bad, some really really bad. If you base your beliefs on other peoples actions, attitiudes etc. you will never be happy. People always disappoint....its the nature of the man. Find out what you believe, be strong and hold to that and don't let people sway you. I think we do that way too often. I tell my children "remember who you are and what you stand for and do not let others persuade you otherwise". As a people we care about what others think too often! I am an active LDS member. I have found some of this hilarious, I understand why you've made most of the comments and I find some offensive (lampooning the prophet).

Let me just clarify a few things from the comments here: Couples DO make vows to EACH OTHER and GOD. (the point of marriage - duh!) Ultra-Mormonism as it was put, is an American cultural facade. It is typically (but not exclusively) a "molly mormon" trait. An unhealthy learned habit and I do agree that this shouldn't be a part of the "culture" but in the US it seems to be.

Some rules are a bit silly (skirts in to an exam that happened over.. oooh 30 years ago! let it go hunny. Some church dances still expect girls to wear a skirt but NOT in every country. The doctrine is the same but the local authorities largely decide what's appropriate. So yet, another Americanism.

Feelings are what they are. I don't go around telling every associate of mine how I really feel. I get on with it, and when my FRIENDS are near I tell them. It's the same everywhere and wouldn't really be appropriate for everyone to know you have PMS that day or you're bored in their lesson. and yes they are sometimes boring. Some however are excellent!

Oh and the teasing the hair comments.. rather lame. These people aren't gods, they're humans trying to helps us reach our potential.

Uhhh...There are at least two other religions who have had to fight more than Mormons. Jews and Jehovah's Witnesses, both of which were gathered up and put into German Concentration camps among other things. Where were the German Mormons when all this was going on? I also find it interesting that the only Mormons persecuted during that time were the few who rejected the notion of Nazism, of which the Mormon Church fully supported. Hello, I do not know what must have happened to harden your heart against the church and it's teachings but it is really too bad. To see people like yourself totally loose themself to the worlds influence and use petty humiliation against people whom you have no personal connection with is sad. This is such an intelligent website. Seriously, it is quite clear that someone has put an considerable amount of energy in to creating the humorless images and comments up here. This is a clear indication of one of two possible catalysts. First, this person is bored and truly has nothing better to do with his/her time. This also means that this person is most likely unemployed, and has hit rock bottom in life. No doubt due to excessive alcoholism, drug use, pornography addiction, all of which probably led to the firing of his/her job, and then a subsequent divorce (not necessarily in that order). Or, this person has somewhere along the line of LDS membership been offended and decided the church is to blame. Perhaps there was a commandment that came along that he/she decided was not for them, he/she had a vision of some kind in which they were told the church is true, a bishop came down on them too hard for something (in their interpretation anyway), a relief society member talked behind his/her back, or perhaps they are just plain bitter at the church for one reason or another. Gosh, I can't decided which it is. However, I'm going to guess that the creator(s) of this website suffer a little bit from all the above. Bravo intelligent website creators! I found your site extremely amusing and sad, My brother married a Mormon and only one of his 6 children and his wife still subscribe to it. She tried to get me involved when I was 12 however having been raised Catholic I knew BS when I heard it. Satan did the same exact thing in the early church rose up another false prophet by the name of Mohamed. Ever notice how all the cults have to have there own interpretation of God's word or a distraction from his real prophets and the true scriptures? Other books such as Catechisms, the Koran, the Book of Moron's and Watch Tower publications, all ways to deceive and distract from the real purpose.

Never trust one man alone that's why the bible was written by 40 authors. When Christ came it ended the need for the priesthood, There is no need for new prophecy dealing with God's plan, there is personal prophecy but as far as global events and the direction of the church all has been covered.

My prayer is that they all see the truth and receive the Christ of scripture and accept him as the only one to follow, after all it is all about Him and He is the only one I know who was raised from the dead, someone well worth following. It's all about finding truth and relating to Him who is truth. "Know the truth and the truth will set you free".

Wow, this is a really tasteless site. Whether you believe in the Mormon faith or Catholicisms or are a Baptist or a Lutheran, this website just shows how juvenile that some people can be. It's amazing on how much time is wasted to produce anti-faith pages that are on the web just like these.

Now, I understand that we can become bored from time to time and don't have anything better to do. However, one would think that you could find better things to do than this. Or perhaps not, and you might be getting a "charge" out of all the comments that are being left here. You really need some help. You should talk to your church councilor, priest, bishop(or whatever religion you are)or maybe just a friend about some issues you might have.

However, on the flip side, it is sites like this that actually help spread the message of Christianity and the Gospel as the casual person that broweses this site would look at your off-color comments as ridicules but might actually peak there curiosity into the Mormon faith. So in your effort to hurt, you might have acually done some good.

You are right that the plates weighed more than 60 pounds. But 200 pounds would be the weight only for the dimensions on display. ALL the plates of the lengthy writings said to be in gold would have weighed TONS. And they would not have fit under Joe's bed or his in bedroom.

I have read a little of what has been written on this site both from the author and the critics and I have to say that all I have read makes me sad. To the author I would like to say that I am sorry for the angry comments and rude statements that have been made by those that disagree with you and have been offended by what you wrote. I am a proud member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, true blue through and through to quote one of our prophets, and I believe that it is your God given right not to believe and to tell others why you don't believe. However I would also like to warn others that may read this page that neither the author nor the critics have well represented the church that I know and that I am a part of. I belong to a church who's single most important doctrine is that of forgiveness. The author has focused on the things that the Gospel teaches we must needs be forgiven for and forgets that after every talk that tells of all the wickedness in the world comes a plea to repent and come unto Christ and be a better person. The critics have forgotten that we are also taught to love not only our neighbor but also our enemy and to forgive that we might be forgiven. I don't write to condemn either party but to say that if you would truly learn about the Church don't take what anybody says at face value. Study the matter out.
